Dr Debra Lerner selects Mapi Research Trust as exclusive distributor and Mapi Language Services as exclusive translator of the Work Limitations Questionnaire (WLQ)
LYON, France, March 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Mapi Research Trust, the leading curator and license distributor of Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs) and Mapi Language Services, part of ICON plc and a leader in linguistic validation, have been appointed by Dr Debra Lerner, the author of the Work Limitations Questionnaire (WLQ) to be the exclusive licensor, distributor and translator of the WLQ and all its derivatives including adaptations, translations and electronic versions.
The original WLQ is a 25-item self-administered validated instrument developed by Dr Debra Lerner et al. to assess the on-the-job impact of health problems and/or treatment ("work limitations") and published in Medical Care in 2001 and 2003.
The WLQ is widely used throughout the world to assess how health problems affect work performance and productivity, in academic and industry-sponsored clinical trials, and it is embedded in many of the health assessment surveys from employers, insurance carriers and health promotion programs. "I have been successfully collaborating with the Mapi Research Trust for years on the production of linguistically validated translations of my questionnaire," said Debra Lerner. "With the increasing use of the WLQ both on paper and electronic formats, I naturally turned to the Mapi Research Trust to ensure a professional and controlled distribution of the WLQ and other tools in our library," she added.
"Mapi Research Trust provides unique assistance and services to questionnaire developers by centralizing and enabling access of their instruments and derivatives to all potential users," said Katrin Conway, Managing Director of the Mapi Research Trust. "Over 40 translations of the WLQ will be available through our online ePROVIDE platform, thus facilitating their dissemination within the scientific and employer communities," she added.
"We are delighted to help Dr Lerner by producing high quality and harmonized translations and electronic versions of the WLQ while respecting the integrity and copyright of the questionnaire," added Ramita Tandon, EVP, Commercialisation & Outcomes, ICON plc.
